Payment Methods
There are two commonly used methods:
- Shooter Pays All
- All Pay, Shooter Pays Extra
In this guide, we will be using the second method: All Pay, Shooter Pays Extra
All Pay, Shooter Pays Extra
- A shooter is one who discards the Winning Tile. The shooter will pay a higher price while the rest pay half the amount shooter pays.
- In the event where the player wins with a self-drawn, there will be not shooter and all players will pay a higher price.
Calculation
The formula to calculate the amount of money is
(Base)^(Number of points acquired)
The Base can be 20,40 or other values. Do check the base with the other players before starting the game.
Points 台
Singapore Mahjong is usually played with a limit of 5. However, some players might play with different limits. Thus, it is always good to clarify before playing.
Here at SingMah, we use a base of 20 and a limit of 5 points.

Other Ways to Get Rich
Flower Bite
Flower Bite occurs when a player have 2 flower tiles of the same number.
There will two scenarios:
- The flowers' number correspond to your seat.
- All other players will pay half the base, which will be 10.
- The flowers' number does not correspond to your seat.
- Only the player whose seat correspond to the number will pay half the base.
If a flower bite occurs when the player first open their hand, it is considered a Hidden Bite and players who are paying will pay the base which is 20.
Animal Bite
Animal bite occurs in 2 scenarios:
- Centipede and Chicken Tiles declared by one player
- Mouse and Cat Tiles declared by one player
When either scenario occurrs, all other players will pay half the base, which is 10.
If a Animal Bite occurs when the players first open their hand, it is considered a Hidden Bite and players who are paying will pay the base, which is 20.
Kang
Kang can occur in either 2 scenarios:
- If the kang is undeclared, all other players will pay the base, which is 20.
- If the kang is declared, all other players will pay half the base, which is 10.
